How to Open and set your UTAU

I realize I didn't go into detail with this in my tutorials... and it's important. My sincerest apologies everyone! So here's a guide of how to open and set your desired UTAU as the current singer.

Method 1 - If you're UTAU is not in the UTAU folder in your program files....

  1. Open UTAU
  2. "Tools"--> "Options..." --> Second Tab (Bank Register)
  3. Press "select" and look for you're UTAU's voice bank folder on your computer
  4. Select and open "a" (it can be in romaji or hiragana)
  5. Set the name if it hasn't been already
  6. Press Add (they will now show up in the bank reg. list)
  7. To assign them as the current singer, select their name and press set-->OK
  8. They should be the current singer. If not, try method 2 after doing this method...

Method 2 -If you're UTAU is in the UTAU folder in your program files or already set.....

  1. Open UTAU
  2. File-->New
  3. Under the "Voice Bank" drop down list, select your UTAU
  4. Press OK
  5. Make them sing!

I hope this clears things up!

Other

If you say your "r's" sounding like "l's" then you don't have to record the l's, since they don't actually exist in Japanese. These sounds are not necessary, but they can be used for accuracy when an UTAU speaks or sings a language that is not Japanese. None of these are actual Japanese sounds.

FAQ #1: How come no sound comes out?

This is a common issue and there are many reasons why this happens. Here's some way troubleshooting tips:
1) Try re-installing UTAU. Corruption during installation is common.
2) Make sure your volume on your computer is not muted or off, and if headphones are used, make sure they are plugged in all the way and in the right jack.
3) Sometimes UST's have sounds written as "_a" or "aか" ,etc. You're UTAU's soundback won't recognize those, so you would have to change those notes so that they match your .wav files. Sometimes you would just need to set the alias if your UTAU is only in Romaji or only in Hiragana.
4) You're UTAU might be corrupt. Check the sound files to make sure they are working. If worst comes to worst, you'd have to re-record those that do not work.
5) Make sure the .wav files work and that they ARE .wav files. mp3 or anyother type of sound files do not work in UTAU.
6) Make sure all the notes you wanted them to sing are not just rests or empty sounds.
7) The UST or VSQ you are using may be corrupt. Try redownloading it or finding a different mirror of it.
 9) Make sure your .FRQ files are already made. See tutorial 5 for more details.

ようこそ!Welcome!

こんにちわ、皆様!
Hello everyone! I'm Jami Xero, you may know me from youtube as otakuJami (where I do my UTAU tutorials) or on HyakuPaaOtaku's channel. I know there are already many UTAU tutorial and helper sites, but I still have a fair amount of people relying on me, so I decided to make this little blog here! I'll just post some FAQ or anything else UTAU like, and maybe links to the UTAU picture requests I get. Well, thanks for visiting and I have fun UTAUing!!!

Some things to be discussed:

  • UTAU FAQ
  • Otakuloid Info and updates! (Otakuloids are the UTAUloids of the Hyaku Paa Otaku Pro)
  • Tutorial info
  • Picture Request Links etc.
Please note I will not respond if you ask things rudely or demand... :( Also, I'm very very busy lately so please be patient if I'm not always available. I'm only doing this for fun after all ^^; lawl
Thank you so much!

- Jami
