FAQ #1: How come no sound comes out?

This is a common issue and there are many reasons why this happens. Here's some way troubleshooting tips:
1) Try re-installing UTAU. Corruption during installation is common.
2) Make sure your volume on your computer is not muted or off, and if headphones are used, make sure they are plugged in all the way and in the right jack.
3) Sometimes UST's have sounds written as "_a" or "aか" ,etc. You're UTAU's soundback won't recognize those, so you would have to change those notes so that they match your .wav files. Sometimes you would just need to set the alias if your UTAU is only in Romaji or only in Hiragana.
4) You're UTAU might be corrupt. Check the sound files to make sure they are working. If worst comes to worst, you'd have to re-record those that do not work.
5) Make sure the .wav files work and that they ARE .wav files. mp3 or anyother type of sound files do not work in UTAU.
6) Make sure all the notes you wanted them to sing are not just rests or empty sounds.
7) The UST or VSQ you are using may be corrupt. Try redownloading it or finding a different mirror of it.
 9) Make sure your .FRQ files are already made. See tutorial 5 for more details.

    I found by ticking the "Use resampler.dll for rendering" box, (under tools->options), fixed my no sound issue. Doing this also got rid of that annoying black box/flickering to different windows.

      Mine keeps not responding! I changed the options and it starts as it should, then refuses to respond and I have to close the program D: Help please :'(

      If you're still confused on what to do or how to find the "Use resampler.dll for rendering" box, then go to Tools, then click on Option, click on Rendering, then "Use resampler.dll for rendering" should be the third option.

    changed my computer to Japanese and the files still look like that Ådë¦âeâgë¦É¦âëâCâuâëâèü[. shoukd i rename these files?

      go to control panel>region>second tab>second button and set it to japan (sorry my computer is in in Polish idk how it looks in English)

    I tried every thing re downloading it in while my local was Japanese, re downloading voice bank (I did both several times) and I tried re sample thing and non of that worked at all. I've even tried changing the local to hiragana! I need some help, I've got a lot of work to do and I wanted this as something to do when I have time but It's just been disappointing so far when I know It quite a good program.

    I have "ghost files" that only show up when I'm in UTAU. As soon as I pull up the voicebank folder, the files are gone. They are frequency files (.frq) and they are for old WAV files that were deleted a long time ago along with their frequencies. When I try to delete the ghost files when I see them in UTAU, they show up again later. Help?

    I'm making an UTAU using Teto's english reclist, and when it goes into UTAU it doesn't say anything! I have most of the files recorded but the ones that are won't play but sample and normal files work. Is there anything I can do?
